Have you ever sat on the shore of a lake in the Adirondacks, admired the scenery and thought to yourself “this must be the most beautiful body of water in the entire country”? Although you may have known it all along, others are finally catching on, which inspired Oyster.com to include not one, but two Adirondack lakes on its list of “The 6 Most Beautiful Lakes in the U.S.”

Lake Placid’s Mirror Lake came in at #3 and Lake George topped the list, with Lake Tahoe in California, Lake Austin in Texas, Lake Geneva in Wisconsin, and Table Rock Lake in Missouri rounding out the field.
In addition to natural beauty, the write-up also cited the abundance of water-based activities – like boating, paddling, and rafting – as some of the primary criteria for the rankings. Since both Lake Placid and Lake George are popular summer destinations for people from every corner of the country, each also is well-equipped with great lodging and dining options, and other things to do.
Whether you’ve never visited these Adirondack lakes before or have done so dozens of times, you should get out this summer and enjoy the true beauty of these unique gems that are right in our own backyard.
