Moreno's Cottages (Ray Brook)

The Highlights
Located at the trailhead of Scarface Mountain, and just 5 minutes west of downtown Lake Placid, Moreno's Cottages is a top choice for Adirondack-style lodging year round. During the winter, you can rent their deluxe two-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin that features plenty of space for a small family or group. There is central heating for those chilly winter days, a queen-size bed and bathroom in each guest room, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and more.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
One of the benefits of staying at Moreno's Cottages' deluxe cabin is that you'll be about halfway between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid and everything those communities have to offer. Make plans for skiing at the Mt Pisgah Ski Area, go ice skating in Lake Placid, attend a fun winter event, or spend the day at the nearby Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington.
Motel Long Lake and Cottages (Long Lake)

The Highlights
While the motel at Motel Long Lake and Cottages is seasonal, nine of their charming cottages are available during the winter. Four out of the nine cottages allow pets during the winter, six of them have fireplaces, and all offer full accommodations and a relaxing escape in the Adirondacks.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
Winter visitors should check out the Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area, where there is an ice skating rink and sledding hill in addition to an entrance to the Long Lake Snowmobile Trail System. Experienced hikers can take on the nearby Northville-Placid Trail, a challenging adventure in the winter.

Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center (Northville)

The Highlights
Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center offers lodging in studio units, housekeeping cottages, and a four-bedroom farm house. Each cottage includes electric heat, a woodstove, and a fire pit.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
Snowsports enthusiasts will not need to wander far, because Lapland Lake has an on-site, award-winning cross-country ski center. There are 50km of scenic ski and snowshoe trails in addition to snow tubing for kids, ice skating, night skiing, and a wood-burning sauna. For guests, use of the trails is free; you will need to pay for rentals if you don't have your own.

Warner's Camp (Upper Jay)

The Highlights
This Ausable River-adjacent Adirondack cabin dates back to the mid 1800s. You'll love the wood-burning barrel sauna after a long winter's hike or a day of skiing, and there's also a wood-burning stove and a fire pit.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
Warner's Camp is optimally located approximately 5 minutes from Keene, 20 minutes from Lake Placid, and 25 minutes from Whiteface Mountain, each of which offer their own winterific activities. There's also Jay Mountain, about 10 minutes away, that is popular for snowshoers.
Pike Point (Indian Lake)

The Highlights
Pike Point is one of five Vacation Adirondacks rentals we highlight here. This one is dog-friendly, offers great views of Lake Abanakee and surrounding mountains, and has a gas fireplace and fire pit.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
The Pashley Falls Hiking Trail loop is excellent for snowshoeing and is 10 minutes from Pike Point. There are also vast hiking trails at nearby Blue Mountain, a town ice skating rink on Ski Hut Road, and nearby snowmobile trails.

Beach Point (Indian Lake)

The Highlights
Beach Point is also a Vacation Adirondacks rental on Lake Abanakee, except this rental and the next are essentially situated on their own peninsula. There's a gas fireplace, hardwood floors, and the knotty pine interior gives the place an extra-cozy feel.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
OK Slip Falls Trail, a 10-minute drive away from Beach Point, is suitable for snowshoeing and popular with winter hikers.

Osprey Point (Indian Lake)

The Highlights
Located near Beach Point, Osprey Point is pet-friendly, features knotty pine throughout, is fully stocked with modern appliances, and has a gas fireplace and fire pit.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
In addition to the aforementioned OK Slip Falls Trail, Snowy Mountain is a 12-minute drive away. Experienced snowshoers are welcome to tackle this mountain, but because of the steep terrain it is not recommended for beginners or for cross-country skiing.

Fern Point (Black Brook)

The Highlights
Vacation Adirondacks' appropriately named rental Fern Point is located on Fern Lake and features panoramic views of Whiteface Mountain and the High Peaks. Make use of the gas fireplace and outdoor fire pit, and feel free to bring your dog to this pet-friendly vacation home.

Placid Point (Lake Placid)

The Highlights
The final Vacation Adirondacks property we show off is Placid Point, a stunning vacation home with a gas fireplace in each of the two living rooms and a main floor that opens up to a large deck with picturesque views.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
Placid Point is within walking distance of downtown Lake Placid (or a quick drive, if you don't want to walk in the cold!). Two Lake Placid winter activities we haven't mentioned yet but are worth checking out include the Lake Placid Toboggan Chute and Adirondack Sleigh Rides.
North River Hobby Farm (North River)

The Highlights
North River Hobby Farm offers small, romantic cabins spread out over 40 acres of mountainous land. There are various pet-friendly lodging options available, and other amenities include fully-stocked kitchenettes, fire pits, and their Japanese cedar hot tub, which is modeled after traditional Japanese sentos.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
North River is five miles away from Gore Mountain, where you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding. You can also check out Garnet Studio (open by appointment in winter), which specializes in the Adirondack Garnet. These gems are the hardest garnets in the world, and only found in the local region.
Prospect Point Cottages (Blue Mountain Lake)

The Highlights
Come read a thick novel and sip hot chocolate by the fire at the charming Prospect Point Cottages. All cottages have large picture windows and porches overlooking Blue Mountain Lake.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
Prospect Point provides snowshoes for guests at no charge. They're also about 10 minutes from the Indian Lake Village ski slope and skating rink (you do need to bring your own skis or skates). And, they're about 30 minutes from Gore Mountain.

Donnelly's Sunset Point (The House) (Long Lake)

The Highlights
Donnelly's Sunset Point cabins are seasonal, but the house, which sleeps 8, is year-round. The house offers a covered porch, a covered deck overlooking the lake, and you can take advantage of off season rates.
Winter Activities to Enjoy
As mentioned with the first cozy lodging option on this list, the Long Lake region includes the Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area for ice skating and sledding, the Northville Lake-Placid Trail for experienced hikers, and the Long Lake Snowmobile Trail for snowmobilers.
